History Tour 2017

Experience the Human Side of History!

Canada and The World Wars!  Set foot on the same European soil where Canadian soldiers built their heroic reputation fighting to defend our values and freedoms.  Explore the German capital, visit the Holocaust Memorial, tour a Concentration Camp, and then travel by train to Amsterdam and see Anne Frank House.  Study the impressive monuments across these regions, like the Vimy Memorial at it's 100th Anniversary and the Juno Beach Center, which remind us of the massive costs of the two World Wars.  Then travel to London to see the Churchill War Rooms before departing for home.

Carlton Social Science teachers have taken students on history tours in the past including trips to the 95th Anniversary of Vimy Ridge in 2012 and History: Holocaust in Europe in 2014.  In April of 2017 we hope to continue our journey to EXPERIENCE history in Europe with the Carlton community.  Carlton community means you don't have to be a Carlton student to join us, so parents, older siblings and other relatives and friends are welcome.

An information and interest meeting will take place in room B117 at Carlton for students on April 8, 2016 at 12:25.  If you cannot be there please email and another meeting outside of school hours will be arranged.

Join us on this once in a lifetime journey and experience the human side of history.  For a tour application, information and quote please contact me at kklassen@srsd119.ca or (306) 922-3115

Holocaust Memorial March for Change

On Wednesday, May 6 our school has been invited to participate in the Holocaust Memorial March For Change in Saskatoon.  This is organized by the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission and the Think Good. Do Good organization.  This is the same group that brought Robbie Waisman to our school in September.
Wednesday morning at 9:30 am we invite you with up to 60 students to Congregation Agudas Israel Synagogue where we will listen to the story of a Holocaust survivor named Sally Wasserman who was a hidden child as well as share the company of two other survivors.  Following Sally's story, 500 students, teachers and guests will march around the block of the synagogue in support, strength and remembrance.  We ask the students to consider the change they want to be in improving our community.” – Heather Fenyes (Think Good. Do Good)
I have provided students that were interested in attending a permission form and am looking forward to seeing them have an opportunity to be a part of this incredible experience.
